This crazy thing called nesting…

Something I’ve been really into the past few weeks is making things and freezing them to quickly defrost and eat once Ponyo makes an appearance into the world.  So far it’s mainly been sweet things – scones (I ate them all before we froze them), muffins (they were kinda not as sweet as I hoped but will be good breakfast), cookie dough, irish potato cakes (but I ate them too).

This month I’m making savoury things – I’m planning on making lasagne, cottage pie, more potato cakes, chilli and mousakka – which I made today as a kind of trial run.

The recipe I used is this BBC one though I made the white sauce myself (25grams butter, 25 grams flour, 200ml milk, nutmeg, 2 eggs, salt and pepper to taste) and also added a layer of fried potatoes in the bottom because I rather like them.  The prototype is in the oven and these lovelies are in the freezer.

 

Nom!
